I grew up in the military life. I was a volunteer for the Infantry Battalion for almost four years as well as several years at the U.S. Navy Marine Society and Family Services at Marine Corps Navy Base in Kaneohe, HI.  I helped all of the military family members.   I moved to Tampa in August 2002 worked with Crossing Guard Program for about 6 years. I then transferred to the Child Protective Investigations Division for nearly three years. I have been in my current assignment in Homeless Initiative for four years – Since July 27, 2020 it is called the Behavioral Resources Unit. My life experiences both in work and personal have centered around my passion to help people.

My current assignment in our Behavioral Resources Unit puts me in touch will all kinds of human situations. I have always been a patient person, so I take the time to listen and talk to the person, making sure they get basic answers to ease their plight and reduce the stress they are under. My goal is to get them the best resources that will work for them.  I check back with them and they tell me things are working much better for them. I believe my compassion and ability to listen are the skills I possess to enhance the prospects for success.

My postsecondary education dates to 1987, when I enrolled in college in Colombia. I then moved to Mexico City for a year, and finally to Hawaii.  I took a few classes in Hawaii in between 1990-98. In 2000 I earned my A.A In Liberal Arts degree from Windward Community College/University of Hawaii. In 2002 I received my B.A in History and Political Science degree from Chaminade University in Honolulu. I received a M.B.A degree from Phoenix University in 2008. In 2016-2020 took some classes in Human Services at Hillsborough Community College.  I am currently working on my second Masters in Counseling and Psychology Clinical Program at Troy University.

My hope is to finish this program to help people, my varied communication skills through interacting with other cultures, and my life experiences that have helped shape my passion to help others.
